A big announcement was made by Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, that Instagram is no longer a photo-sharing app.

People are freakin out.

Here’s why you shouldn’t freak out…

When changes are made to Instagram, I believe that it really gives an opportunity to even the plainfield.

You’re probably thinking, how is that even possible.

Hear me out.

When any changes are made, it filters out the people who are really are there to create an impact or not. Business owners who believe in their purpose look at the changes and say, “Okay, how do I adjust and what do I need to do.” Business owners who are just thinking about their revenue goals (not their purpose) will complain instead.

The future of Instagram…

Instagram’s plan for the next 2 years is to invest one billion dollars in content creators. Why are they doing that? They got competitors like YouTube, TikTok, and Clubhouse. They want to give incentives to content creators to create better content on the platform.

Mosseri mentioned that they will be embracing video, especially mobile-first video.

This means Instagram will favor IGTV, Lives, and Reels more than posts.
